Description

SPSS Part 2: Basic inferential statistics in SPSS

Paul Rice

This session is a follow on from Part 1: Introduction to SPSS and assumes you have attended the introductory session or have a working knowledge of SPSS.

We will examine the relationships between variables using chi-square tests, t-tests and correlation. The approach will be practical and we will discuss the situations in which you would use each technique, the assumptions made by the method, and interpretation of the results. We will not derive proofs, but rather focus on the practical matters of data analysis.

This workshop is open to any student currently registered on a research degree programme or Early Career Researchers (ECRs)* at the University of Northampton. Further information is available from Simone Apel (simone.apel@northampton.ac.uk; 01604 893418).

*We define ECRs as those members of University staff starting out on their career whose work role involves a substantial amount of research.
